A Prayer for PEACE

Here you are
Here I am
Here they are
We are here

In this world
Full of sorrow
Full of war
Full of injustices
Full of half truths
Lacking reconciliations

But we have to move on
So we here
The voices of reasoning reckoning

But do we hear
As the wind full of cries pass
The cries of young children
The cries of our mothers
The cries of our neighbours
The cries of our sisters
The cries of our brothers
Oh! The list is quite long

But wait a minute
How did it all start
It is true we have to put off the fire
Then enquire
How it all started

Now the fire has stopped burning
How did it all start
Well it was some injustices
It was some lack of truth
It was the robbing of the hope
Of many young people

But does it justify
The blood bath we are seeing
The loss of property we are seeing
The loss of livelihood we are experiencing

We need to come together
To save the world
But also note that
PEACE without JUSTICE and TRUTH
Will never be sustained for long
But PEACE with JUSTICE and TRUTH
Is as long lasting as eternal life
A message of peace for the bleeding Kenya

International Students Day
About this category: Education

Being a student is one of the mostwonderful and fulfiling thing in any ones stages of life depending on how best you utilize your time in school or collage. Personally, my own experience in school evolved around organizing awareness campaighns and involving fellow students on events that could change their lives in one way or another. I am now just about to graduate in November 23rd 2007 and contrary to what people used to say that my deep involvement in these activities would cost me my class work, I am happy to say that I am going to graduate with very good grades which makes me feel that you can do something as a student and still pass your exams. CHEERS to all the students!!!!!!!!

Do you care of the peole living with HIV/Aids?
About this event: VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT TRAINING
About this category: Culture

Just thinking of you as one of the people living with HIV/Aids is one thing that should make you ask the following question, "How would you feel if you are shunned by friends because of your status?" It is disheartenning indead. During my encounter with some of the PLWA during the training, I came to realise that we need to come together to realy fight the stigma. May be this time it is your neighbour and the next time it is your brother or sister. We need to do a lot of work to remove the stigma and embrace these angels into our society because it is not their fault that they are HIV positive.

My TIG Aniversery

On 25th September will be ONE whole year on the Network. What I am trying to ask myself is this, have I made a difference to my fellow TIG community members? I would like to have a comment from people and know whether I need to do more in the next period of another one year. Thank you all for the support I have had with the TIG community.

If colours are used to symbolize LOVE, why should they also form basis for HATRED??
About this category: Peace & Conflict

According to the Advanced learners dictionary, second edition LOVE is defined severally as:-
*to have strong feelings of affection for another adult and be romantically and sexually attracted to them, or to feel great affection for a friend or person in your family
*to like something very much
*strong liking for
In the same dictionary, hatred ot "to hate" is also defined as:-
*to dislike someone or something very much
*an extremely strong dislike

It therefore goes without saying that these two words (Love and hate) are the two extremes of LIKENESS.
In the course of human development, man (and certainly a large variety of other animals), LOVE has been (and still is) displayed using all sorts of COLOURS. This behaviour in humans is seen for example during festive periods (Christmas, Sallah celebrations, Valentine, Easter etc) when LOVED ones buy cards, flowers and other forms of gifts adorned in different COLOURS.
Houses are painted in varieties of colors to enhance romance, show affection etc. Vehicle colors are chosen in response to romantic moods. It is now virtually impossible to name a particular human behavior that does not recognize the beauty of colors.
There are so many videos, pictures and written documentation attesting to the responses of many animals that show their courtships are made using displays of colors, one of the most popular of which is the display of colorful wings by the peacock.
However, the spectrum of color goes from one extreme of total BLACK to total WHITE, meaning that the two extremes of colors are BLACK and WHITE! One would therefore wonder why the color of the skin at the two extremes of the spectrum of colors would be anything to hate each other for.
Or is it that at one extreme of LIKENESS there is LOVE and at the other extreme, there is HATE therefore COLORS, the most utilized medium to show LOVE, at one extreme of which is bright (white), should also be used to symbolize HATE at the other extreme of which is dark (BLACK)?
Is this the main cause of RACISM....? somebody help me!!
